Meditation Brings Transformation
The Magic of Meditation with Sister Jayanti at The Mehfil Hotel, Southall – 9 June 2025
Over 180 people gathered at the Mehfil Hotel, Southall for The Magic of Meditation event with Sister Jayanti on Monday, 9th June. With Biru Baskaran as MC and Rithvik Chennamchetti as interviewer, the event was a rich and lively exploration into the power, the purpose and the practicalities of Raja Yoga meditation.
Sister Jayanti shared many insights about the essence and impact of meditation, explaining that “Meditation is to know who I am, to go deep within the self and connect with the Divine” and how meditation can transform our lives by helping us release negative habits and build emotional resilience. When asked how to encourage others to meditate, she replied: “You are an advertisement for meditation – when people see the change in you, that you are able to stay stable, they will ask you how you do it.”
There were many questions about various practical aspects of Raja Yoga, dispelling common myths, for example, Sister Jayanti clarified that meditation is not confined to rigid postures but is rather an experience of love, connection and awareness. She reminded the audience of the need to take control of one’s own thoughts, especially in times of stress and confusion, noting that “we actually save time by learning to meditate because we become focused and efficient.”
A beautiful guided meditation led the audience inward, helping them gently connect to their inner peace and the Divine.
“As I absorb the light of peace, love, and truth from the Divine, I realise these qualities are within me too. I simply forgot them because I forgot myself.”
Speaking specifically to the young people about the state of the world they are inheriting, she encouraged them to use their energy and skills for world transformation, which, she added, begins with self-transformation. She also highlighted the importance of balancing technology use and recognising the need for silence and spiritual study as well as authentic, human connection. Asked about meditation for the elderly, she gave a gentle reminder of how the peaceful presence of a meditator has the power to calm and comfort others.
She concluded with a collective message of hope and responsibility: It’s not just a hope, it’s certainty that there is a better world ahead. Transformation happens through God’s power, God’s energy – then that better world can come about. When there are many meditating together, then whoever joins that gathering is contributing their own unique qualities. Each one contributing in whatever way they can will definitely make a change.”
The key message that everyone took away with them was that meditation not only brings personal peace but lays the foundation for global transformation.
One member of the audience shared afterwards:
“The one thing I’ll take back is the way of meditating. I knew what meditation was but I didn’t know the technique. Sister Jayanti was kind enough to give the method on how to meditate.”
