Hindus & Christians Dialogue at Global Co-operation House

November 2, 2026 | Brahma Kumaris UK

His Eminence Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad, Prefect of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue spoke at a conference at Global Co-operation House on Monday 19 October, entitled, Hindus and Christians: Together to build a just and peaceable world.  The event was a unique collaboration between the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England & Wales and five Hindu and Dharmic organisations in the UK: BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, Brahma Kumaris, Chinmaya Mission, ISKCON and Ramakrishna Vedanta Centre.  The dialogue brought together religious and community leaders, scholars, politicians and journalists, from both faith traditions and many others. Over three sessions, panelists explored Christian and Hindu approaches to peacebuilding and interreligious dialogue, followed by open discussion.  Sister Maureen gave a welcome address and Sister Marta from Spain offered a reflective summing up at the end of the day.

Cardinal Koovakad said: “The task of shaping our era and creating a more humane and just world is not religion-specific but belonging to all religions, governments, political communities, families and all people of good will in society.” Quoting Dadi Janki, Sister Maureen said: “God would not give us power to fight one another, God gives us power for Peace; true religion means peace.” Cardinal Koovakad repeated these words with appreciation in his own speech.
