Sister Jayanti was in Assisi, Italy at the beginning of August for the official inauguration of the Global House of Friendship and Hope, an immersive interfaith experience that could be called the world’s first interfaith museum dedicated to friendship and prayer as paths to peace. ‘Global House’, is right next to the iconic Santa Maria degli Angeli Basilica in Assisi on the 800th anniversary of St Francis. A project of the Elijah Interfaith Institute, Global House has been supported by friends locally and internationally.

Sister Jayanti was a main speaker at the public event “Friendship and Prayer as Paths to Peace” that followed the ribbon cutting ceremony, along with Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Imam Mustafa Cerić, Grand Mufti Emeritus of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Rabbi Alon Goshen-Gottstein, founder of the Elijah Interfaith Institute.

In his speech, Cardinal Pizzaballa said: “The quality of our relationship with God is demonstrated by the quality of our relationships with people.” Sister Jayanti spoke about how peace begins within each human being, adding: “True brotherhood can be established only through spiritual consciousness. If we can come back to the awareness of the self through prayer, through meditation, we can connect with others on that human level.” She ended by congratulating “Rabbi Alon and all the staff who worked hard for the opening of this fantastic place which is the Global House of Friendship and Hope.”
